Suno V6 vs V5.5: Is V5.5 Still Available?

Suno V6 is now the default model and V5.5 is retired. See the V6 model variants, their pricing, and how older V5.5 tasks and songs are handled.

Short answer: V5.5 has been retired, so you can no longer start new generations with it. Use V6 for new generations. Songs you already generated with V5.5 are unaffected and can still be queried, played and downloaded as usual.

Models available now

All three variants are priced the same: 0.6 yuan per run, with a fixed 2 songs per run. Which one you pick depends on the direction you want; you can start with the standard version and then try the other two as needed.

Why V5.5 still shows up in past tasks

Retiring a model only affects new requests; it does not rewrite historical data. Older task records still show the model name used at the time. That is historical information only and does not mean the old model can still be submitted.

Are older songs affected?

No. Songs generated earlier can still be queried, played and downloaded as usual. The audio files are stored on the platform side and do not depend on whether the model is still online. Commercial licenses you have already applied for, or are about to apply for, are also unaffected by the model retirement.

What you need to do to move to V6

No extra steps are required. In the current workspace, just select the V6 series in the model selector. When calling through the API, set the model field to the corresponding V6 model name. If you previously hard-coded V5.5 in your code, you need to change that value, otherwise you will get a model-unavailable error.
