Suno Free Plan: Song Limits, Pricing and Commercial Rights

Updated 2026-09-11 · Suno-API team

How many songs the Suno free plan gives you, what membership costs, and whether free tracks can be used commercially - the three questions new users ask most.

Almost everyone starting with Suno runs the same calculation first: how long the free quota lasts, when you have to start paying, and what paying actually gets you. Of those three questions, the one most often overlooked - and the most important - is the licensing rule.

What the free quota covers

A standard free account gives you a limited number of generations per day, usually enough to try a few songs and get familiar with the workflow. It is meant for testing, not for ongoing output - the quota refreshes daily, and once it runs out you wait until the next day.

If you are just curious what AI songwriting sounds like, the free quota is plenty. But as soon as you have a real use for it - background music for short videos, client deliveries, a channel you update regularly - the quota becomes a bottleneck fast.

The key rule: songs from the free plan cannot be used commercially

This is the point most people miss, and it has the most serious consequences. Songs generated with the official free quota generally do not come with commercial usage rights; only new songs generated by a paid account during an active subscription carry commercial rights, which cover distribution, sales, short videos, film and TV, games and client projects.

There is also a rule that works in creators' favour: songs generated during a subscription keep the commercial rights you already acquired, even if you cancel later.

Membership vs pay-per-use

FactorOfficial membershipPay-per-use
Payment modelMonthly subscription, renews on expiryPay for what you use, no subscription
Best forDaily generation, high-frequency useOccasional or project-based use
QuotaFixed monthly quota, unused quota does not roll overNo quota concept, billed per generation
Idle costCharged even in months you do not use itNothing to pay when you do not use it

This site uses pay-per-use: 0.6 yuan per generation, each generation produces 2 songs, MP3 and WAV downloads are unlimited, no subscription is required, and there is no such thing as credits expiring. For users with irregular volume, this model is usually cheaper than a monthly plan; if you generate heavily every day, a monthly plan may work out better.

Common questions about credits and top-ups

  • Do credits expire: this site bills per generation, so there is no credit expiry or reset.
  • Am I charged for a failed generation: once a failure is confirmed, the cost is returned to your account.
  • How to top up: after registering you can top up online or use a redemption code; corporate bank transfer and invoicing are supported.
  • Do downloads cost extra: no. Billing only happens when you generate or use a specific feature.

Which option is better value

  • Just want to try it out: start with the free quota, no need to pay.
  • Steady monthly output, generating every day: a monthly membership fits better.
  • Projects, client work, irregular volume: pay-per-use is cheaper and nothing goes to waste when idle.
  • Commercial delivery: whichever you choose, make sure the songs come from a paid account and keep your licence records.
