Can AI-generated songs be used commercially? Learn Suno's paid-account rules, how to apply for a commercial license letter, and what is not covered.
This is the question we get asked the most. The answer isn't a simple "yes" or "no" — it depends on two things: which account generated the song, and whether the material itself involves someone else's copyright.
Commercial use rules for Suno paid accounts
Suno's official statement for Pro / Premier paid accounts is:
- New songs generated while the subscription is active carry commercial use rights.
- They can be used for distribution, sales, YouTube and TikTok content, film and TV, games, and client projects.
- Suno does not take royalties; users can keep 100% royalties.
- Songs generated during the subscription keep their commercial rights even if you cancel later.
This site connects to Suno's official generation pipeline and uses paid accounts, so songs generated normally follow the rules above and the corresponding records can be found on Suno's official site.
How to apply for the authorization letter
The platform also provides a music commercial authorization letter, used to show clients or platforms where the authorization comes from.

The authorization letter itself is free. Once you meet the condition you can apply, and songs you already generated can also be applied for retroactively — you don't need to wait until after applying to generate new songs.
What is not covered
Scenarios involving someone else's copyright are not authorized, including:
- Covering songs protected by copyright.
- Directly using the lyrics of copyrighted songs.
- Uploading audio material that clearly contains someone else's copyrighted content.
The safest path is to write your own lyrics, hum your own melody, and hand that to the platform for generation. That way both the lyrics and the melody have a clear origin, and there is no disputed point in the authorization chain.
Before publishing to a platform
If the song is going to a short-video platform or being delivered to a client, keep three things together: the generation record, the authorization letter, and the project delivery note. If a dispute does come up, these three documents can show the work's origin and authorization status.
