Suno Vocal Separation: Extract Vocals and Instrumentals
Learn how to split Suno songs into vocals and instrumentals, the difference between two-stem and multi-stem separation, and what to do with the stems.
Vocal separation has more uses than you might expect: making karaoke backing tracks, pulling out an acapella to re-arrange, or keeping only the background music for a video all require splitting a finished song into separate tracks.
Two-stem vs. multi-stem separation

If all you want is a backing track, two stems is enough. If you plan to re-arrange or swap out an instrument, you need multi-stem, because only a finer split gives you room to adjust individual parts.
How to do it
- Find the song you want to process in your song list and confirm its status is completed.
- Choose the stem separation feature and select a separation mode.
- Confirm and submit; the task enters the processing queue.
- When processing finishes you get several independent tracks you can preview and download one by one.
The original song is not affected. The separated tracks are new records, so you can always compare them against the original.
What you can do after separation
- Make a backing track: use the instrumental stem directly with your own or someone else's vocals.
- Extract an acapella: take the vocal stem on its own for re-arranging.
- Replace an instrument: after multi-stem splitting, swap out the part you are not happy with and recombine.
- Short video scoring: keep only the background music so it does not clash with voiceover.
Cost
Two-stem separation is 0.6 yuan per run, twelve-stem separation is 3 yuan per run. Billing is per run, with no subscription involved. Downloading the separated tracks costs nothing extra, and both MP3 and WAV are available.
A few things to note
- Separation quality depends on how the original was mixed. In songs where vocals and instrumental sit very close together, a small amount of bleed may remain after separation. This is normal.
- If you want to use a separated vocal as material for a new song, check the copyright first: songs you generated yourself on the platform are fine, but cover versions of copyrighted songs are outside the scope of the license.
- Multi-stem separation takes longer and produces more files. Try two stems first, and only move to multi-stem once you know it is enough.
